Everything to expect from IKEA’s presence at the Interior Design Show Toronto

It’s a comeback for the ages! Get excited, Toronto, because IKEA is once again presenting at the Interior Design Show (IDS), and it’s set to be a celebrated return.

Canada’s largest hub for design is back in the city from Jan. 22 to Jan. 25, and if you only have time to squeeze in one exhibition, you’d better make sure it’s the one from IKEA.

IDS TORONTOAt IDS, IKEA is set to spotlight the innovative, design-forward pieces Canadians have loved for years. Head to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to experience the iconic brand IRL — because some design legacies are better seen than scrolled.

The heart of the home

Often called the heart of the home, the kitchen takes centre stage at IKEA’s booth, highlighting just how essential the space is to everyday living.

The immersive display features a main kitchen, a hidden prep kitchen, a walk-in pantry, and a dining area — all designed to showcase IKEA’s premier design and spectacular quality, delivered at accessible price points.

IDS TORONTO“IDS gives us the opportunity to demonstrate what thoughtful kitchen design can truly look like in everyday Canadian homes,” says EJ Middelhoven, Head of Home Furnishing and Interior Design at IKEA Canada.

“Our booth brings together beauty, function, and smart problem‑solving — from maximizing space to simplifying organization. It shows how IKEA continues to lead with solutions that make the kitchen not only the heart of the home, but a place where great design and real-life needs meet.”

Proving that great design doesn’t have to come with a premium price tag, IKEA’s SEKTION kitchen system has been a Canadian bestseller for more than a decade. It’s innovative solutions like this that the exhibit aims to amplify — it’s all about functionality, flexibility, and that unmistakable IKEA style.

Call it IKEA’s International Modern style group or its interpretation of modernist design for the masses — the booth brings the brand’s signature look to life. Expect to see tactile materials, sleek lines, and bold patterns, all brought together in designs that are built to last.

IKEA drops and talks

Fans of earthy tones and modern character will like this one! The Interior Design Show Toronto will also serve as the backdrop for IKEA’s latest product launch.

Feast your eyes on the all-new TERRSJÖ door. With its bold, wavy texture, this piece delivers warmth and depth, and brings a tactile element to your kitchen. It’s a great way to add some personalization to the space.

For more IKEA deep dives, check out the Main Stage Keynote on Jan. 23  at 1 p.m. from the Global Chief Product and Commercial Officer at IKEA of Sweden, Fredrika Inger. She will share her insights on product design and shaping life at home globally, drawing on notes from her remarkable career.

Here’s a bit of insight from Inger on IKEA’s product development:We always start with life at home, and from there we look at people’s needs, dreams, frustrations, and then of course, based on that need, we create products.”

That’s exactly the same thought process that went into IKEA’s newest product, STOCKHOLM 2025, which Inger said was crafted like a premium product.

“We wanted to do a luxury chandelier that gives a great brightness, but in the simple IKEA way of asking ‘how we do that without adding extra cost?’ Making sure we keep quality, sustainability, good function, and a nice, beautiful design.”
