3 men charged after cops probe alleged home renovation scam

Toronto Police alerted the public about three men who have been charged in an ongoing fraud investigation.

Between March 8 and March 27, the suspects were allegedly operating businesses in the GTA by the name of Kabe Home Improvements, Sen Financial, Space Inc., Entire Smart Home Inc. and Eastwood Construction and offered two Toronto residents home renovation services.

The victims were then allegedly coached on how to get a mortgage to pay for the renovation projects by the suspects, who collected bank drafts from the victims worth $296,000 with no intention of completing the renovations.

Blake Eastwood, 30, of Vaughan, was charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

Blair Eastwood, 30, and Jude Eastwood, 35, both of Brampton, were both charged with two counts each of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN INDECENT ACT PROBE

Toronto Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an indecent act investigation.

Cops said that on Friday, the victim was in the Salisbury Ave.-Sackville St. area around 1:50 p.m. and approached by an unknown male suspect who committed an indecent act.

The suspect is male, in his 20s and 5-foot-6 with a thin build and short dark hair. He was wearing glasses, a dark hoodie, black shorts, black socks and black shoes and riding an electric scooter at the time.

HAMILTON SUPPORT WORKER CHARGED WITH FRAUD

Hamilton Police have charged a support worker who is accused of defrauding some of her clients.

Cops said that from Dec. 15, 2022, to Jan. 16, a woman was providing care for multiple vulnerable residents of Community Living Hamilton, a not-for-profit organization that assists people with developmental disabilities.

She was able to gain access to the residents’ bank accounts to assist them with their finances and allegedly diverted more than $277,000 from their accounts for her personal use.

Pamela Ellis, 44, of Hamilton, was arrested Thursday and charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

COPS APPEAL FOR HELP AFTER SWARMING

Toronto Police are seeking witnesses after a swarming last weekend near Woodbine Beach Park.

Police said they responded to an assault call in the area Sunday at about 11:25 p.m. after a male victim was attacked by several unknown suspects and suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to a hospital by paramedics.

Police said the incident happened near the park’s public washrooms at about 11 p.m. and they believe there were bystanders who may have witnessed the incident or recorded it and shared it on social media.
