A 5,400-square-foot office in Bengaluru where design inspires work-life balance

Further, the brief entailed the office to house 20 employees and three senior partners, while also welcoming frequent high-profile guests. Specific requirements included ample storage solutions, open layouts to encourage collaboration, and designated spaces for both work and relaxation. To translate this brief, the design team focused on creating distinct zones within the workspace, each serving specific functions. Kainikkara also employed innovative problem-solving techniques, and engaged in open communication and discussion with her supportive and thoughtful client, Divya Spandana to devise a clever spatial plan that seamlessly integrated both sets of requirements without compromising on functionality or aesthetics.
In consequence, the spatial configuration comprises a well-defined reception area, inviting lounge space, functional working areas, strategically positioned meeting rooms, and thoughtfully designed outdoor terraces. These areas were interconnected intelligently to facilitate seamless movement and interaction among occupants, promoting a culture of teamwork. The first floor serves as the main office space, while the terrace floor houses the pantry and party areas. This meticulous spatial planning, integration of versatile storage solutions, and prioritization of open layouts foster collaboration and creativity.
In devising the colour and material palette to heighten the spatial experience, the studio opted for neutral shades and natural materials. The understated colour scheme features warm wood tones contrasting with neutral shades like off-white, beige, grey, and black, with every room’s furniture contributing to a soft splash of colour. Materials like wood, rattan, terrazzo, concrete textures, and plants enhance the natural feel of the space. For all the furniture, furnishings, accessories, lighting fixtures, artworks and decor elements, Greige Studio collaborated with various vendors and artisans to ensure that each piece seamlessly integrated into the overall design aesthetic while meeting the functional needs of the space.
Some of the notable highlights of the office includes the elegantly curved terrazzo counter in the reception area, the inviting lounge adorned in peachy hues and brass accents, and the thoughtfully designed outdoor terrace. And a pivotal one was conceived while meeting the biggest challenge in designing this workspace. As the spatial arrangement required nine separate rooms, and the building had a cone-edge shape towards one end—a curvy workstation was designed diagonally across the hall which facilitated a smooth spatial flow, and easy access to all the rooms. This carefully crafted element excels in both aesthetic appeal and functional significance, fostering an ambience that sparks creativity, fuels collaboration, and inspires innovation throughout the workspace.
